Description: Shift/Hours (40 hours/week): Monday-Friday from 9:30am-6:00pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist patients with financial arrangements and refers qualified patients to the appropriate government assistance programs. Screen and interview patients, in person or by telephone, for insurance (Charity Care and/or Medicaid) eligibility and complete applications through the coordination of regular visits to inpatient clinics, emergency department and additional sites as needed.
PF Concepts – Resource Advisor eligibility based on guidelines supplied by the client site and Uncompensated Trust Fund Regulations.
Receives requests and referrals from various hospital departments; i.e., Social Services, Inpatient/Outpatient Department, Labor and Delivery Dept, Emergency Room, etc., on potential patients whose financial situation may make them eligible for financial assistance.
Refers patients to appropriate Clinic, Social Service and outside agencies for help.
Assist patients in completing related forms and applications for assistance
Follows up with patients after discharge to insure compliance
Submits completed applications in a timely manner for approval.
If not eligible for any assistance, refers patient to the appropriate department for payment plan and/or pricing.
Corrects applications returned by the client site in a timely manner
Keeps record of patient volumes by completing a daily work log and/or completing a patient sign in log with outcomes
Initiates online PE’s for patients eligible for Medicaid and retains a copy for departmental record keeping
Motivated liaison between the company, client, and patient.
Perform other duties as assigned by management team.
Qualifications/Skills:
Minimum High school diploma plus extensive industry experience.1+ year(s) of customer service experience or patient relations
Experience in healthcare financial services and knowledge of insurance billing (preferred)
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Healthcare systems and software (preferred).
Exceptional client and customer service, relationship and team building.
Problem solving skills and a willingness to learn.
Bilingual- English & Spanish (preferred).
