As the Regional Director of the American Heart Association in Central New Jersey, Patti Harvey’s main duties are leading the Central New Jersey Heart Walk and building relationships with community partners. In other words, she knows how to form relationships and make them stick.
The American Heart Association is a proud member of the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce. Harvey stressed that being a part of the chamber helps form bonds with those that live and work in Middlesex County, which helps leverage mutually beneficial partnerships.
“I’ve learned that being with the chamber for this long, you really get to know how incredibly community-driven all the participating businesses are,” said Harvey. “In fact, because of how hardworking and dedicated the chamber is, they helped bring Central New Jersey Heart Walk back to Middlesex County, which is a huge deal.”
The Heart Walk has been a national event for 25 years. The Central New Jersey Heart Walk is a community celebration that encourages people to get active while raising vital funds to support the American Heart Association’s mission of being a relentless force for a world of longer and healthier lives. The goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by the year 2020.
“We hope to see everyone come out and support the Central New Jersey Heart Walk coming back to Middlesex County,” Harvey added.
Everyone is welcome to join the walk on Sunday, October 13 at Thompson Park, 1701
Perrineville Rd. in Monroe. Registration opens and activities will begin at 8 a.m. The walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. The walk route is one or three miles and this event will be held rain or shine. The Central New Jersey Heart Walk is hoping to raise $395,000.
Harvey resides in Interlaken in Monmouth County with her husband, Keith, her two sons, her step daughter and their dog, Mattingly.
Harvey loves riding her bike to the beach and playing golf. During the winter season she enjoys skiing.
“My goals?” Harvey questioned. “By forging bonds with community businesses and
organizations I am hoping to help improve the heart and brain health of Middlesex County residents and beyond.”
