Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ), the state’s largest health insurer with 3.7 million members, prides itself on being involved and engaged in the communities it serves. “Our membership with MCRCC has helped us create relationships and connections with many residents in Central New Jersey and has also provided us with a platform to educate and inform,” said Jose Pereira, Supervisor for Horizon BCBSNJ’s Blue to You program.
Argelys Morel, an account manager for Horizon BCBSNJ’s Hispanic and individual markets, has attended the Hispanic Business Expo for the past six years, watching the event continue to grow, year after year.
“The annual expo is the perfect event for my market because it allows me to interact with so many Hispanic business owners and entrepreneurs who are supporting each other,” Argelys said. “It also gives Horizon the opportunity to support them as well.”
Jose highlighted the Chamber’s Women’s Leadership Summit, which is coming up on Oct. 18, and the Central Jersey Golf Tour as successful, proven events that Horizon BCBSNJ is eager to support.
“Through events such as the Women’s Summit, we can help empower women in the community, as well as the professionals who work for our company,” he said.
“The golf tour is an interesting and immersive sponsorship opportunity because it encourages participants to network on the course as everyone is paired with representatives of other companies,” Jose added. “It is a terrific way to begin new relationships with other business and community organizations.”
“Horizon employees not only work in New Jersey, we live here, and the members we serve are also our neighbors. Our knowledge of New Jersey and our roots in the Garden State are what distinguish us as a health insurer,” he said.
Jose has been a proud member of the Horizon BCBSNJ team for nearly nine years and Argelys has worked for the company for three years. They both enjoy making long-lasting connections with customers, another reason they see such benefit in a chamber membership.
