In addition, the MCIA is expanding into the parking construction and management sector with the purchase of a parking deck next to the Performing Arts center in Carteret completion of the new parking deck adjacent to the new Cancer Institute in New Brunswick, plans to construct a new parking facility for the North Brunswick train station and its recent appointment as the Parking Manager for the Metuchen Parking Authority.
With a dedication to public service Jim began his political career in 1983 as the youngest Councilman in history in Highland Park, New Jersey. In 1992 he successfully ran and served as Mayor of the Borough of Highland Park for two consecutive terms. During his term he orchestrated the development of the AHEPA Monroe Chapter 75 Senior Housing Apartment building in Highland Park, constructed a new Senior/Youth center, designation of a river front Environmental Center, economic development of the downtown and clear support, funding and expansion of all emergency services. In 1998, he was elected as Freeholder of Middlesex County, and served six terms including as Chairman of Public Safety until 2016 when he took over the responsibilities of the MCIA.
Jim’s current involvements with public service include serving as Commissioner of the NJ State Chiefs of Police Accreditation Commission, Chairman for the Middlesex County Crime Stoppers Program, and Trustee for the Middlesex County 200 Club. He was also appointed by Governor Murphy in 2018 to serve as a Commissioner of the New Jersey Police Training Commission and Licensing Committee which is his second call to service at the PTC having served 8 years as an appointee of Governor Florio. He is also the Emergency Management Director and Civilian Emergency Response Coordinator for Highland Park.
He is an active member of the St. George Parish in Piscataway where he serves as a member of the AHEPA. Jim is also an Archon of the Order of Saint Andrew of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and appointed by the Metropolitan (Archbishop) of New Jersey to serve as Vice Chairman of New Jersey Metropolitan Council.
